Campbell River enjoys a moderate climate with an average annual temperature of 8 degrees C, and average annual precipitation of 140cm.

Population/Demographics

A population of over 33,000 in the District of Campbell River and a market population of over 40,000, make Campbell River a major regional centre. It has a first class international reputation as the "Salmon Fishing Capital of the World", renowned for some of Canada's finest natural landscapes and hospitality.
A healthy population growth is vital to building a strong and diversified local economy. Campbell River's population projections are therefore most encouraging.
By provincial standards, Campbell River is a young community. In 1991, 72% of the population was under the age of 45, with 35% of the total population between 25 and 45 years of age. Currently, about 76% of Campbell River's population is 15 years of age or over, providing a potential labour force of over 19,000 people.
